Urto
Elastico have finally released their debut album:
All the tracks are written by Carlo and played by him and Stefano, of course; they used only three instruments: a Fender Telecaster U.S.A. with Boss GX-700 multi-effect processor, a Technics KN400 keyboard and an electronic Yamaha drums. Disclaimer:
Let's have a look at the songs now: it begins with a short instrumental Pace - introduzione only a clean electric guitar as a prelude to the title track Il 2000 (parte I) almost eight minutes of great music with three guitar solos, one of them in tapping; there is then another instrumental La Ballata di Stroszek title inspired by Werner Herzog's omonymous movie, it is nothing else than a psychedelic electric blues. At this time then longest track of the album (14 mins!) begins, the suite: Il Canto del Destino the parts a,b,d are instrumental while Non Importa is sung; but let's go in order: Preludio starts with a drums march, then the keyboards enter until fade out, here the second part begins Bufera: a long guitar solo over a heavy rhythmic bass, organ & drums base; there is then Non Importa and after six minutes from the beginning of the suite you can finally hear Carlo's voice, a short acoustic interlude divides the part in two, while a long psychedelic moment ends this third part until the beginning of the fourth one: Coda identical to Preludio except for the final guitar solo. After the long suite there is another short instrumental Pace - tema, as in the introduction, there is only a clean electric guitar involved in a great arpeggio. Then the other long song of the CD begins, a classic from Urto Elastico: Speranze after the delayed bass intro, the first guitar solo begins, then the two first verses follow, there is a short pause then with only the organ before a short wah solo, the final two verse and the fantastic final guitar solo. It's now the turn of the only romantic song of the CD, I suoi occhi, delicate acoustic ballad with a short clean guitar solo in the middle. We go on with Lettera, the most malinconic track, with a good performance fo Carlo at the piano; then Riflessioni d'Autunno follows: an ipnotic short bluesy track . The album ends with Il 2000 (parte II), musically simpler than the part I, but longer with the lyrics; the album ends with the notes of Carlo's clean guitar of Pace - coda. |
